Belsize House and its Mulberry Tree

There is a mulberry tree growing at Belsize Park which is a remnant of the original park that existed there in the early 19th century:

The 18th century flyer below invited people to take a coach (for sixpence) from London and Hampstead to visit Belsize Park, braving the dangers from highwaymen who 'infested the road'. Visitors could be assured of protection from 12 'stout fellows, compleatly armed '. At Belsize Park visitors could spend the day in the 'much improved' park, wilderness and gardens of Belsize House:

Belsize House was demolished in about 1850 to make way for the building of the large number of mansion blocks that are in the area now.
